Subway Surfers

Few endless runners are as recognisable as Subway Surfers, the arcade chase from SYBO Games, originally co-developed with Kiloo. Its idea fits in one sentence: run along the train tracks, avoid the trains and stay ahead of a grumpy guard and his dog.

Players guide Jake, Tricky and Fresh through a run that only ends when they crash or get caught. Swipes move the runner between lanes, jump over obstacles and roll under them, and the description stresses how fast those swipe acrobatics are. Runners can grind along the tops of trains, ride a hoverboard and take off with a paint-powered jetpack for stretches of the run. There is a social element too, with options to challenge friends or help them out. The bright, colourful HD art is one of its selling points, and the app is built to adapt to different screen sizes.

The scale is enormous: 1,000,000,000+ installs and more than 41.5 million ratings averaging 4.5. Of those, 79% are five stars and only 6% one star. The game is free, ad supported and sells optional in-app items from $0.99 to $99.99. The latest update arrived on 2026-09-17, it needs Android 6.0 or newer and is rated Everyone 10+. We list 58 versions, the newest being 3.68.5 at 252.7 MB.

Anyone looking for a quick reflex game to play in short breaks will get exactly that. Players after depth or a story will not find much beyond the chase itself, and ad breaks are part of the package.
