ChatGPT

ChatGPT is OpenAI's official Android app for its AI assistant. You type, speak or show it something, and it replies in conversation, whether the task is answering a question, drafting text or creating a picture. Chat history syncs across devices, so a conversation started on a laptop can continue on the phone.

The app covers a wide range of everyday uses. Image generation creates new pictures from a written description or edits existing ones. Advanced Voice Mode, opened by tapping the soundwave icon, allows spoken back-and-forth conversation, handy for practising a language. Photos can be uploaded or taken to transcribe handwriting or learn about a landmark. The listing also suggests using it for gift ideas, travel plans, explaining topics, brainstorming business plans and suggesting recipes from leftover ingredients. A screen-sharing option through Accessibility Services, in limited availability, lets it answer questions about what is on screen.

The scale is extraordinary: 1,000,000,000+ installs and 61,512,107 ratings with a 4.8 average; 88% are five stars and just 2% one star. The app is free, with in-app purchases from $8.00 - $100.00 per item, and the store data also marks it as ad-supported. It was updated on 2026-09-20, needs Android 7.1 or newer and is rated Teen. We list 73 versions; the latest, 1.2026.251, is 101.1 MB.

Almost anyone who writes, studies or wants quick answers on the go will find a use for it. People who prefer not to share personal photos or conversations with an online service should review the privacy terms first.
